DELAC Responsibilities
- Advise the School Board
- Help create plans and policies for EL students.
- Review and comment on the needs of each school.
- Set goals for EL programs
- Ensure Compliance
- Make sure teachers and instructional aides meet the required standards
- Review reclassification procedures for EL students.
- Review Communications
- Look over letters and notifications sent to parents and guardians
- Provide Input on Funding Plans
- Help with the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), especially for language programs
- Participate in Training
- Attend training sessions to understand your role and responsibilities better
- Represent Your School Site
- Act as a nominee to represent your school's English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
- Serve as a bridge between your school site and the district
