TIMELINE AND NOTIFICATIONS
Current Year Requests
Requests to attend a CUESD school for the 2020-21 school year are reviewed and processed on a case-by-case basis. Notification of final decision will be made within 30 days from the date the request was received.
Next Year Requests
April 1 - April 30: Requests to attend a CUESD School can be made during this period. Requests received after April 30 will be placed on a waitlist. Notification of final decision will be made as soon as possible, but no later than 14 calendar dates after the beginning of instruction in the school year for which interdistrict transfer is sought.
•We are not able to provide the status of a pending application. Notifications will be sent in writing once a decision has been made.
•When a request is denied, notifications to parents/guardians will be made in writing providing the reason and the right to appeal
•An approved interdistrict request form must be in effect between the district of residence and the school district of desired attendance before a student can attend the desired school.
•An approved interdistrict request form is valid only for one year and students must reapply each year during the specified application period.

Transfers Between Districts
California Education Code provides options under which a student may attend school in a district other than the district where he/she resides.
All requests must be approved by both districts before a student is enrolled in a different district. The District of Residence in which the student resides in must approve the Request for Interdistrict transfer prior to the requested District of Attendance.
Notwithstanding Education Code Section 46600, any Interdistrict Transfer Permit issued under this Agreement is valid only for one year and students must reapply each year.
REQUEST TO ATTEND A SCHOOL IN CUESD
If you live outside the boundaries of the Corning Union Elementary School District (CUESD), you may apply to have your child(ren) attend our schools.
Interdistrict Transfer Requests for the current school (2022-23) year are reviewed and processed based on grade/class sizes. Some schools within our district may be impacted due to late enrollments and class sizes. Priorities are given to CUESD students.
An Interdistrict Transfer Request Form is used for this process and starts with your student's school of residence.
Inter(In) requests for the 2023-24 school year will be accepted from April 1 - April 30. Parents who prefer to have their students attend a CUESD school but are residents of another school district must complete an Interdistrict Transfer Request Form which can be obtained through the district/school of residence or below. The completed form should be submitted to your student's current school or district office. An approved interdistrict request form must be in effect between the district of residence and the school district of desired attendance before a student can enroll and attend the desired school.
Interdistrict Transfer Requests to attend a CUESD school will be reviewed by the Superintendent or designee and are subject to terms and conditions of the Interdistrict Transfer Request Agreement (page 2 of the Interdistrict Transfer Request Form).
Parents will be notified as soon as a final decision is made but no later than 14-day calendar days after the commencement of the school year for which the transfer is sought.
REQUEST TO ATTEND A SCHOOL OUTSIDE OF CUESD
If you live within the boundaries of the Corning Union Elementary School District (CUESD) and wish for your student(s) to attend a school in another district, use the forms below to start the process. Once you complete the form, submit it to CUESD District Office for processing. CUESD has 10 days from the date of receipt to review and process. If the Superintendent reviews and signs (releasing the student to another district) CUESd District Staff will forward the form to the desired school district for review and processing.
An approved interdistrict request form must be in effect between the district of residence AND the school district of desired attendance before a student can enroll/attend the desired school.
